I am a firm believer in rescuing animals. All 3 of my cats are rescue pets. The two older ones, Bella and Harley, are sisters. They were born outside in the backyard of a lady I worked with at the time. She brought the litter inside. She was able to find a home for the other kitty. Her husband said they could not keep those two kittens that were left. Bella and Harley were very attached to one another. Always cuddling and sticking side by side. She wanted to find a home that would take both. I volunteered. I felt so bad for them. I had always wanted a cat, why not get two? When I got them they were only about 6 weeks old! They were so tiny!

Lili joined our family the year we got married, a couple months after our wedding. I started talking babies, Jason wasn’t ready! He agreed to the kitten when he saw her face at Petsmart. She had been living in a foster home with 50 other cats! My goodness. Poor thing. She was about 3 months old when we got her. You could see and feel all of her ribs. She is a fat house cat now, but when we got her, she was a tiny skinny little thing.

Jack has a bond with all 3 cats. He knows their names. He always wants to play with them, even if they are not really in the mood. Since he was born they have been interested in him. It took Bella a bit more time to come around, but lately she has been his friend. He always asks for her!

As you can see, these rescue cats have brought a ton of joy to our lives. For the past EIGHT years. I have had B & H for 8 years!

All of the dogs I had growing up were from shelters. We were not a purebred/pet store family.

On Sunday my mom, dad, and youngest brother rescued another animal. A puppy. She was literally thrown from a truck. These people drove up to an animal clinic, slowed down but didn’t stop, and threw her her from the truck. They then sped off. This poor puppy started chasing after the truck/people that abandoned her! Thankfully the people at this clinic saw all of this. They didn’t get the licence plate number, but they were able to rescue the dog. My brother’s girlfriend is a vet tech, so she heard about this through her acquaintances. She told my parents about her. If she wasn’t adopted by today, they were giving her to animal control. She likely would have been put down. SHE IS SO CUTE! My mom kept me updated. I said they had to adopt her. My mom said, I know but there are lots of animals with stories like this. I cannot save them all. I said that is true, but, you don’t know all of their stories, you don’t have the opportunity to help them all. You do have her story and you do  have the opportunity to help her. She said I know, but you’re preaching to the wrong person, your dad needs the convincing! Guess who got a text message from me?

She is a love. A sweetheart. She is also spunky, she has some spirit to her. I love her to pieces already. I cannot wait until we are ready for a new family member of our own. Not a baby, but a puppy. We have to wait a while. At least a year until after we have moved. We want to give the cats time to adjust to the new home. They are a little finicky at times. So we want life to be as relaxed as possible when we get a puppy.
